Q: Are the houses real?
A: The 6 houses at the open-air museum are made in 2008 for the educational and tourist promotion of the Neolithic site “Tumba Madzari”. Their visualization and 3-D reconstruction is shaped upon the original houses excavated at the same site. Next to the open-air museum, just on the other side of the fence is actually the original archaeological site from the Neolithic period, but there are no houses over there. This is mainly due to the fact that when a house from the Stone Age is discovered, usually the floors are most often preserved and the upper part of the house is destroyed because is made from the organic material.
Q: Does the artefacts in the houses are original?
A: The artefact in the houses are replicas made upon the originals discovered at the “Tumba Madzari” archaeological site in a time span of 50 years of exploration. There is a variety of items at the display, and they are different in every house. It is possible to touched them, make a photo or video, but only if the you are very careful considering that this is an open-air museum exhibit.
